Chinese Cabinet from Those Beneath Royalty
This cabinet is the Chinese Red Lacquer Cabinet. Circa 1880. It has scenes on it with people and dragons. If you notice, it has four toes on the dragon’s feet. So, this means, it was a class lower than the emperor. So, this would have been somebody of a high official but just not to the emperor’s standards. So, a little bit more of a person that worked for the emperor.
One thing nice about this cabinet is that it has no nails or screws in it. This is all wood-pegged together. So, you could break this cabinet down for shipping then put it all back together again because it is wood-pegged together.
In this house, it would have been used totally for storage. It could have been for grains, flour or whatever they would have put in it to store in their house for daily use.
